Job description

Job Title: Senior Associate, Real Estate Valuation

Location: Onsite (Salt Lake CIty, Utah) | Hybrid eligible after onboarding
Salary Range: $75,000 โ€“ $130,000 + bonus

Why You Want to Work With Us

Marshall & Stevens is a 92-year-old independent, national valuation consulting firm known for our client focus and quality-driven culture. Our Litigation Valuation Group specializes in forensic accounting, economic damages analysis, and business valuation for legal disputes, including commercial litigation, matrimonial disputes, shareholder disputes, and bankruptcy cases. We provide expert financial analysis to attorneys, corporate clients, and the courts to assist in dispute resolution. If you have a strong financial background and an interest in applying valuation to complex legal matters, weโ€™d love to hear from you.

What This Role Will Do

As a Senior Associate in Real Estate Valuation, you will perform in-depth analysis and valuation of commercial, industrial, and special-use properties for financing, tax, litigation, and transactional purposes. You will work on high-profile projects involving market research, financial modeling, and property appraisals, collaborating with investors, financial institutions, and legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop real estate valuation models using income, cost, and market approaches.
  • Conduct market research on cap rates, sales comparables, rental trends, and macroeconomic influences on property valuation.
  • Perform financial analysis of property-level financials, net operating income (NOI), lease agreements, and investment returns.
  • Prepare appraisal reports, fair market value assessments, and feasibility studies for regulatory, financial, and legal applications.
  • Work closely with developers, investment managers, attorneys, and lenders on valuation-related matters.
  • Assist in litigation-related valuation by providing expert financial analysis for real estate disputes.

What Makes You Successful in This Role

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or Business. A MAI designation or Argus experience is a plus.
  • Experience: 3-6 years of experience in real estate valuation, investment analysis, or property appraisal.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Argus, and real estate financial modeling.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of real estate investment, development trends, and property risk assessment.
  • Communication: Ability to present valuation results clearly to financial, legal, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects, and effective research skills.

Why Youโ€™ll Love It Here

Marshall & Stevens provides hands-on experience in litigation valuation, forensic accounting, and expert witness support. You will work on high-stakes financial disputes and gain exposure to legal proceedings, financial modeling, and valuation techniques that impact high-profile cases. If you are looking to apply finance in a legal setting, this is the perfect opportunity to develop a unique and in-demand skill set.
