Job description

The Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Central Selection team is responsible for governing selection strategy and execution across Amazon's grocery portfolio. We operate at the intersection of category management, operations, and technology, building the mechanisms and guardrails that ensure each banner delivers a differentiated and complementary customer experience. Our work directly impacts millions of grocery customers and shapes how Amazon's grocery banners coexist and grow together.

This Sr Program Manager role will lead critical workstreams including selection analysis and optimization, banner assortment strategy, and selection governance across banners. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, can translate complex merchandising problems into structured program plans, and is energized by the pace of grocery retail. You will ensure end-to-end accountability for selection health, from initial strategy and category planning through ongoing optimization, leveraging shared metrics and dashboards across banners

The ideal candidate combines strong business and product sense with a solid understanding of technical concepts. You can think strategically, analyze data, influence without authority, and provide strong customer service support. You must thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. High judgment, analytical talent, ability to influence, and exceptional communication skills are essential to success in this role.

Key job responsibilities
  • Develop and execute location and format-driven selection strategies using competitor benchmarking, capacity inputs, sales analysis, and market data to inform market-specific selection across banners, both online and physical stores
  • Drive automation and leverage AI Tools to simplify processes and improve operational efficiency
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate program updates with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership reviews
  • Drive automation and leverage AI tools to simplify selection planning processes and improve operational efficiencies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver results in an ambitious, fast-paced environment, working across many time zones
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience with selection strategy, category management, or space planning
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with Microsoft Access or SQL
  • 5+ years experience in business roles requiring data analysis, process improvements, creative problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about customer behavior
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL
  • Experience leveraging automation and AI tools to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency
  • Ability to analyze data quantitatively and use customer research, data and metrics to back up assumptions and identify opportunities
  • Experience creating and/or improving operational processes across teams and stakeholders, with bias toward automation
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
