Job description


As a Sr Advanced Project Management Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to mechanical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve techniques, procedures, and products and technologies.
You will report directly to our Director of Engineering, and work out of our Aguadilla, Puerto Rico location. External hires will begin with 90 days onsite before transitioning to a 3/2 hybrid schedule.
This role will be focused on driving projects aimed at reducing product turnaround times (TAT) at our repair and overhaul (R&O) sites, improving product output, finding ways to make our supplier more cost competitive. The selected candidate will be analyzing R&O data, working with the site engineering leaders and their staff to identify opportunities and develop robust plans to implement required actions that enable improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, project manage and execute initiatives & projects aimed at improving Repair & Overhaul (R&O) key performance metrics (KPIs): Turnaround times (TAT), output, cost to serve, critical part shortages, FPY, etc.
  • Assess the Control System's R&O network needs around capital equipment and develop risk/benefit analysis of modernizing (new capital equipment), improving (extending life) or do-nothing scenarios.
  • Partner with the engineering and operations teams to assess existing manufacturing processes opportunities, potential re-positioning of existing capital equipment
  • Develop a management operating system (MOS) around tracking of use/downtime of existing support equipment (test, machining, special process, etc.)
  • Drive capacity planning efforts to ensure test / support equipment optimization
  • Actively manage efforts to increase R&O value proposition regarding Honeywell's aftermarket operations
  • Drive closure of action plans to improve internal / external repair cost performance and maturity levels.
  • Serve as a product advocate for the projects assigned by actively engaging with operations, procurement, buyers and commodity managers in order to reach objectives.
  • Conduct workshops and product line deep dives to identify improved productivity ideas through the implementation of automation solutions.
  • Schedule and Milestone development/mgmt. Estimation development and analysis, cost reduction. Metric development/reporting
  • Risk/OPP development and management
  • Project Performance, Value Engineering

Travel, up to 20% may be required - within US and/or internationally
Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 8+ years managing engineering projects, to include:
  • New product introduction
  • Transition of product, facility or vendor
  • Experience working with vendors (procure parts or equipment, vendor certifications, etc.)
  • Experience working on capital projects
  • Leading cross-functional project
  • Continuous improvement/cost reduction experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • 3+ years interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
