Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:
The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer is a senior-level technical leader responsible for driving the development, implementation, optimization, and scalability of advanced manufacturing processes supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), production readiness, and manufacturing capability growth. This role serves as a key manufacturing engineering subject matter expert and is responsible for leading complex manufacturing initiatives with significant impact to quality, cost, delivery, and operational performance.
The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer collaborates cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, and leadership teams to develop robust, manufacturable, and scalable production solutions. This role is expected to lead complex process development activities, drive manufacturing strategy, mentor engineering personnel, and support the advancement of manufacturing technologies, equipment, and operational best practices across the organization.
The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer also plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing readiness, process validation, continuous improvement initiatives, capital equipment implementation, and technical problem-solving activities within regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Lead the development, implementation, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixturing, and production methodologies for new and existing products.
  • Serve as a senior technical manufacturing engineering resource responsible for leading complex and high-impact manufacturing and NPI programs from concept through production release.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), process optimization, and manufacturing risk reduction activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead manufacturing activities within the NPI Stage Gate process, including manufacturing planning, DFM/DFA reviews, PFMEA development, process validation strategy, tooling and fixture development, manufacturing readiness assessments, and production ramp activities to ensure successful transition into production.
  • Develop and implement advanced machining, assembly, inspection, automation, and production methodologies to improve quality, throughput, repeatability, and manufacturability.
  • Lead process validation activities including IQ, OQ, PQ, capability studies, first article inspections, and process qualification efforts within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Lead complex root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for manufacturing, process, and quality-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cost, improving yield, minimizing variation, increasing throughput, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate manufacturing risks and lead PFMEA and process risk mitigation activities for new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing standards, engineering procedures, best practices, and scalable process controls across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 9001 requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality management system standards.
  • Support supplier development, outside processing qualification, and manufacturing capability assessments as needed.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to junior and mid-level manufacturing engineers while supporting overall engineering team development.
  • Lead technical design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, process development activities, and manufacturing strategy discussions.
  • Support equipment selection, capital planning, implementation, process qualification, and manufacturing capability expansion initiatives.
  • Work closely with production personnel, operations leadership, and cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve overall production performance.
  • Maintain and oversee accurate manufacturing documentation including routers, procedures, process flows, work instructions, validation documentation, and engineering records.
  • Support strategic manufacturing initiatives involving advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, operational scalability, and capability growth.
  • Drive collaboration across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain teams to support organizational goals and manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field required.
  • 8+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience supporting production, process development, advanced manufacturing, automation, or New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, medical devices, semiconductor, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Extensive experience supporting CNC machining, precision assembly, tooling, fixturing, inspection, automation, advanced manufacturing processes, or complex production environments preferred.
  • Strong technical expertise in manufacturing process development, process validation, root cause corrective action (RCCA), and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading PFMEA activities, DFM/DFA reviews, manufacturing process optimization, risk reduction initiatives, and production readiness efforts for medium to high complexity products.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, capability studies, process controls, and operational excellence methodologies preferred.
  • Experience working within AS9100, ISO9001, ISO13485, or other regulated quality management systems preferred.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, manufacturing standards, and technical requirements.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred), ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing documentation systems, and engineering change management processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and program management organizations.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex manufacturing projects, process development initiatives, and NPI activities with minimal supervision.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and providing technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing scalability, capital equipment implementation, process standardization, or advanced manufacturing capability growth preferred.

Salary Range: $115,000-$130,000 + bonus
