Senior Cost Accountant


About LEL International

LEL International is a growing manufacturer of custom generator enclosures serving customers across North America. As our organization continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to strengthen our accounting and financial reporting functions while partnering with leadership to support strategic business decisions.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of cost accounting, accounting operations, and key financial reporting, while partnering closely with executive leadership in a growing manufacturing organization.


Position Summary

The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial data through cost accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general accounting activities. This individual will work closely with executive leadership by providing timely financial analysis, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring the accounting function operates efficiently and accurately.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, possesses strong manufacturing accounting experience, and is comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports for executive leadership.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, labor, material, and overhead expenses to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain and analyze product costing, job costing, and inventory valuation.
  • Perform month-end close procedures, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide meaningful financial insights to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Assist with external audits and year-end financial reporting.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial processes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, Production, and Executive Management to improve financial visibility across the organization.
  • Support ERP system enhancements and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with cash flow reporting and financial planning.
  • Perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities as business needs evolve.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing or cost accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and job costing.
  • Experience preparing executive-level financial reports and analyses.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, and financial modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and operational leaders.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • ERP system experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership with strategic financial planning.
  • Supervisory or project leadership experience.
