Position Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including entering journals, using financial technology systems, and other select finance-related administration. The Senior Accountant ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial analyses. The Senior Accountant also implements and trains staff to use software that streamlines processes and improves distribution and accessibility of financial information.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure day-to-day transactions such as accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable, and payroll are recorded properly.
- Perform timely and accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.
- Ensure all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal and state laws and regulations.
- Perform fiscal year-end close activities and assisting with activities and requirements of external auditors.
- Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
- Participate and lead cross training as identified.
- Drive special projects through to completion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Master's degree and/or CPA certification a plus.
- Minimum of five-years general accounting experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel required.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Infinium or AS400 software experience, a plus.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills.
- Superior data management and data analysis skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and available to work until deadlines are met.
