Description:

Chicago Family Health Center (CFHC) is a mission-driven, nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center serving Chicago's South and Southeast Side communities across six sites. We're seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and help maintain the accurate, timely financial information that keeps our mission moving forward.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant plays a central role in month-end close, general ledger integrity, and reconciliations. This role is a strong fit for an accountant who combines technical GAAP knowledge with the initiative to improve processes and the reliability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in month-end close, including preparing monthly and standard journal entries, reviewing allocations and estimates, and correcting errors.
  • Assist in preparing monthly internal financial statements and related reports.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including preparing financial schedules and journal entries for items such as interest income and prepaid insurance.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Maintain amortization schedules for mortgages and other obligations.
  • Perform and maintain monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of general ledger and liability account balances.
  • Support independent auditors during year-end audits, prepare required audit workpapers and reports, and help verify the accuracy of reporting.
  • Contribute to developing and improving manual and automated accounting processes.
