Job description

Construction Sales Consultant – Building & Contractor Experience

Aurora, IL and surrounding areas

$80,000–$110,000+ | Base Salary + Uncapped Commission + Performance Bonus | Vehicle Allowance | Full Benefits

Know Construction? Ready to Use That Experience Without Running the Entire Business?

If you've spent years owning a construction business, estimating projects, building structures, managing jobs, selling building materials, or working directly with construction customers, your experience could translate extremely well into this role.

FBi Buildings is actively hiring a Construction Sales Consultant to grow our Aurora, IL and surrounding area market.

We're especially interested in talking with construction business owners and self-employed contractors who enjoy working with customers and selling projects but may be ready to step away from the day-to-day demands of running their own company.

Keep using your construction knowledge. Keep building customer relationships. Let an established construction company provide the team and resources behind you.

Why Construction Business Owners Should Consider This

Running a construction company means doing a little bit of everything.

Selling. Estimating. Scheduling. Hiring. Managing employees and subcontractors. Ordering materials. Handling problems. Following up on invoices. Managing equipment. Finding the next project.

With FBi Buildings, your primary focus is different:

Build relationships. Understand what the customer needs. Help develop the right building solution. Sell the project.

You'll have experienced estimating, design, project management, construction, marketing, and administrative teams supporting the projects you sell.

What You'll Do

  • Develop relationships with farmers, business owners, developers, contractors, and property owners throughout Central Illinois
  • Meet with customers and understand their building needs, goals, budget, and timeline
  • Help customers evaluate building designs, materials, options, and construction solutions
  • Develop new business through networking, referrals, community relationships, and prospecting
  • Manage opportunities from initial conversation through signed construction agreement
  • Work closely with estimating and design teams to develop proposals
  • Partner with project management and construction teams as projects move forward
  • Maintain customer relationships and generate repeat and referral business
  • Build and manage a long-term sales territory throughout Sangamon County and surrounding areas

Construction Experience Matters

We're not simply looking for a traditional salesperson.

We're looking for someone who can sit down with a customer, understand what they are trying to build, ask the right questions, and confidently guide the conversation.

You may be a strong fit if you're currently—or have previously worked as a:

  • Construction Business Owner
  • Self-Employed Contractor
  • General Contractor
  • Construction Estimator
  • Construction Project Manager
  • Construction Sales Representative
  • Building Materials Sales Representative
  • Commercial or Agricultural Builder
  • Post-Frame / Pole Barn Builder
  • Construction Superintendent
  • Foreman or Lead Carpenter

You do not need years of formal sales experience.

If you've owned a construction company, estimated and sold your own work, developed customer relationships, or helped customers make building decisions, you already have many of the skills we're looking for.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of construction, building materials, estimating, or the building process
  • Ability to understand how a building moves from concept through construction
  • Strong customer communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable discussing project scope, building options, materials, budgets, and timelines
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing a territory
  • Strong follow-through and personal accountability
  • Comfortable networking and developing new business
  • Valid driver's license

Experience in post-frame construction, pole buildings, agricultural construction, commercial construction, general contracting, building materials, estimating, or design-build construction is especially valuable.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation includes:

  • Base salary
  • Uncapped commission
  • Performance bonus opportunities
  • Vehicle allowance
  • Health insurance
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Life insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Referral program
  • Leadership and professional development opportunities

Ready for a Different Side of Construction?

Currently own a construction business and aren't actively looking? That's okay. Confidential conversations are welcome.
