ABOUT THE POSITON Long Beach City College is seeking qualified instructors to deliver employer-sponsored homeland security training for employees of the Port of Long Beach

This training is designed to support workforce development in homeland security, intelligence analysis, transportation security, border security, emergency preparedness, and related public safety and security topics. The instructor will provide engaging, job-relevant instruction for adult learners in classroom, online, or workplace settings. These Temporary assignments may vary based on employer needs, instructor expertise, and training schedules.

Training may cover homeland security topics such as: Homeland security principles, agencies, terminology, and operations State, national, and international laws impacting homeland security Critical threats and risk awareness Intelligence analysis and intelligence support for security operations Terrorism, man-made disasters, and natural disasters National defense and private sector vulnerabilities Transportation and border security Port, maritime, aviation, rail, trucking, pipeline, and public transportation security Detection technology and security-related legal, economic, political, and cultural considerations COLLEGE MISSION Long Beach City College is committed to providing equitable student learning and achievement, academic excellence, and workforce development by delivering high quality educational programs and support services to our diverse communities. Duties POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The instructor will deliver customized training aligned with employer needs, contract education requirements, approved course outlines of record, and learning objectives.

Duties may include preparing lessons, adapting materials for incumbent workers, facilitating classroom or online instruction, leading discussions and case studies, evaluating participant progress, and maintaining a professional learning environment. Instruction may include lecture, group discussion, case studies, scenario-based learning, analysis exercises, applied security examples, and workforce-relevant assignments. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must not be employed by LBCC Qualified candidates should possess a combination of education, training, and professional experience in homeland security, intelligence analysis, transportation security, border security, emergency management, public safety, criminal justice, port security, or a closely related field.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Prior teaching, training, workforce development, public safety, military, law enforcement, emergency management, or professional development experience Relevant degree, certifications, licenses, or industry credentials Experience delivering customized training for employers or incumbent workers Experience developing applied case studies, scenario-based instruction, or professional training materials Experience with homeland security, intelligence analysis, transportation security, border security, port operations, maritime security, emergency preparedness, or public safety instruction Additional Information APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Long Beach City College only considers complete applications for employment.
