Summary Statement

The Lead Quality Assurance Automation Engineer will direct the development and execution of comprehensive automated testing strategies to uphold the organization's commitment to delivering exceptional software solutions. This role will involve driving strategic initiatives, ensuring team alignment with industry standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in quality assurance practices. The lead engineer will work collaboratively with cross-functional leaders, mentor team members, and provide expertise in resolving complex challenges while championing innovation and excellence in test automation.

Essential Tasks/Major Duties

  • Lead, design and development of test automation frameworks.
  • Define and implement automation strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Work closely with the product teams to define automation requirements and strategies.
  • Manage and administer the execution of manual and automated testing.
  • Guide the team in integrating automated test with DevOps pipelines.
  • Mentor engineers on automation best practices, and code reviews.
  • Analyze automation metrics and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the reliability and robustness of all automated workflows.
  • Establish and ensure standards and best practices are met.
  • Plan and manage automation projects, including resource allocation, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Create and present reports on automation progress, cost savings and efficiency gains.
  • Participate, collaborate and lead the Quality Automation Community of practice.
  • Follow SAFe Agile practices and participate in SCRUM ceremonies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 years of quality assurance experience, with a proven track record of leading large-scale, complex projects.
  • Experience mentoring QA teams, with a focus on technical and professional development.
  • Expert-level Proficiency with common automation tools, such as: Selenium, Cucumber, Guidewire GT framework, TestComplete, Postman.
  • Expertise working with development tools such as, Azure DevOps, Atlassian, GitLab, Jira/Xray.
  • Extensive experience with common scripting languages such as, SQL, Python, Java for creating automation scripts.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, or with insurance applications such as Guidewire, is a plus.
  • Experience in Agile Development Practices and Scrum methodologies.
  • Expertise in building test plans, test scenarios and test cases.
  • Expertise in planning System Integration Testing (SIT) phases, defining test scope, and report SIT progress and test coverage.
  • Expertise in conducting manual and automated testing.
  • Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining custom automation frameworks.
  • Experience in Test Driven Development or similar advanced testing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps pipelines
  • Expertise in configuring automated testing as part of the build and release processes.
  • Experience with performance and load testing.
  • Experience with defect tracking systems and test management tools.
  • Experience in managing test data and implementing data-driven testing approaches to improve test coverage.
  • Strong knowledge of databases to automate data validation, testing, and migrations.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as Code to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Familiarity working with cloud platforms and containerization tools for deploying and automating environments.
  • Knowledge of security practices and compliance standards and how to integrate them into automated processes.
  • Ability to collaborate well with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure the automation solutions align with project goals.
