Position Summary
The SCADA Development Engineer is a key technical and project-delivery role responsible for overseeing the integration of SCADA, telemetry, and operational technology across Middle River Power's generation portfolio. This role spans contract oversight, schedule management, engineering review, and project execution from early development through commissioning and post-PTO operations.
The SCADA Development Engineer works closely with EPCs, OEMs, system integrators, IT, grid operators, and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable, compliant, and timely delivery of SCADA and telemetry systems that support interconnection, monitoring, and market participation.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Delivery Management
• Develop and manage SCADA and OT project schedules aligned with overall project timelines.
• Coordinate and synchronize subcontractors, integrators, and vendors.
• Track progression against milestones and actively enforce schedule adherence.
Engineering Reviews & Technical Oversight
• Review and coordinate engineering deliverables from:
oSystem integrators
oTelemetry providers
oEPCs and Owner's Engineers
• Perform technical reviews of:
oSCADA designs
oSingle-Line and Three-Line Diagrams (SLD/3LD)
oNRI documentation
oProtection schemes, with emphasis on points lists and telemetry alignment
• Ensure designs meet grid, interconnection, and operational requirements.
Project Management & Integration
• Internet & Network Integration:
oCoordinate with internal IT teams to support secure internet connectivity.
oManage installation and commissioning of network infrastructure.
• CAISO P2P:
oSupport thermal build-out requirements.
oCoordinate SCADA and telemetry integration.
oSupport PRE and Official testing processes.
• PTO P2P:
oManage points lists and physical signal connections.
oCoordinate telemetry testing and validation.
• 72-Hour Testing:
oMonitor system performance during testing windows.
oCoordinate troubleshooting across vendors and internal teams.
• Commissioning:
oSupport PTO testing activities.
oLead SCADA and telemetry support for G1 and G2 milestones.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
• Strong understanding of SCADA, telemetry, and OT systems in power generation environments.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, protection diagrams, contracts, and technical documentation.
• Experience coordinating multiple external vendors and stakeholders.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, facilitation, team collaboration, and ability to work with minimal supervision on complex tasks.
Preferred
• 5+ years of experience in SCADA system design in the renewable energy industry.
• Experience with SEL RTAC's and other PCLs for renewable sites.
• General knowledge of CAISO Metering and Telemetry standards.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
Pay Range
$90,000.00 Annually to $15,000.00 Annually
