Job description

Description

Packaging Operators work closely with the Packaging Supervisor and Plant Operations Manager to ensure that seed packages are labeled legibly and accurately according to customer instructions. Seed corn is packaged into paper bags ranging from 35lbs to 65 lbs in weight and stacked onto a pallet to be warehoused by a forklift. Seed corn is also packaged into bulk containers that is to be warehoused. All packaging must adhere to customer instruction. Other essential job functions may include but not limited to:

  •  Performing work activities safely
  •  Application of appropriate tags and/or labels to seed packages as applicable
  •  Accurate bagged seed inventory counts
  •  Lifting and stacking materials up to 65 lbs. 
  •  Standing to fill and close packaged product for extended periods of time
  •  Successfully pass the forklift training and receive an operator's certificate
  •  Safely climb stairs and/or ladders to monitor and adjust equipment
  •  Thorough cleaning of all equipment in order to maintain product integrity
  •  Assist with implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System
  •  Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized work area
  • Perform routine maintenance of your area
  • Asked to assist in other areas of the facility as requested
