Description
The Security Officer position is responsible for providing safety and security-related services to the Resurrection Christian School campus. The Security Officer's primary duty is to patrol the interior and exterior areas of the school and assist administrators and local law enforcement with security at after hour events as scheduled.
ABOUT RCS:
Resurrection Christian School is a private, non-denominational Christian college-preparatory school located in Loveland, Colorado. Founded in 1998 by Rez.Church, Resurrection Christian School serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. RCS is the largest Christian school in Northern Colorado, serving over 1100 families from 19 communities over a 25-mile radius. School enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year is approximately 1,350 students. RCS is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI); AdvancED.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide prompt reports to the Security Coordinator on matters pertaining to school safety.
• Assist Preschool Director and staff in developing and supporting emergency procedures and emergency management plans, lockdowns, lockouts, fire drills, and evacuation procedures.
• Schedule, coordinate and conduct emergency response training with staff and students.
• Distribute copies of school safety and emergency response plans to staff as necessary.
• Direct and coordinate the periodic assessment and audit of the facilities and ground to determine safety and security issues.
• Assist administration in matters involving criminal activities on the school campus.
• Perform building security checks by patrolling specific areas of concern in order to maintain a safe school environment during the school day and during some after school events.
• Detect intruders and escort them off the property as necessary.
• Detect offenders of school policies (alcohol, drugs, etc.) and report to the proper authorities.
• Submit Happy Fox work tickets to Facilities to help maintain the building and door locking systems.
• Monitor the security video monitoring systems.
• Coordinate access to the building for vetted vendors and contractors.
• Manage alarm code procedures by providing codes to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain and share accurate records of incident reports to the Security Coordinator and Preschool Director.
• Act as a liaison with local jurisdictional agencies such as fire, police, and health departments concerning building life and safety issues.
• Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and school administrators in providing security coverage for after hour on-campus events.
• Participate in crisis/emergency planning and respond to crisis/emergency situations including weather emergencies, shelter in place, fires, accidents, and response team training.
• Maintain and manage radio communications.
• Perform basic facilities maintenance including but not limited to snow removal, applying ice melt and securing property during inclement weather.

• Able to work in a team environment and works effectively with other departments to accomplish goals.

Salary Range: $21.64-$24.04 per hour

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training and one or more years of experience related to security services preferred. Military or law enforcement background is preferred. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license and a concealed carry weapons permit. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess or be willing to attend training to attain a NASRO School Security Officer Certificate. Completion of related FEMA certification courses within 1 year of hire required. Must attend mandatory refresher trainings annually.
Must have excellent planning skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to adapt to changing environments and priorities. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work productively and meet benchmarks and goals in a timely fashion. Strong interpersonal, organizational, facilitation, and management skills are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Security Resource Officer must be able to work in an office and outdoor environment, some exposure to extreme temperatures. Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, reach and pick up or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds; and possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
