Job description

Reports to the Career Technical Training Manager. Responsible for providing career technical training instruction to students by approved curricula. Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions:
โ€ข Provide students with career technical training instruction, direction, and assistance in a designated area of instruction.
โ€ข Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits; coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
โ€ข Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
โ€ข Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the shop and classroom; on a routine basis, inquire if individual students need assistance.
โ€ข Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to the student. Prepare related reports.
โ€ข Participate in student evaluation panels; prepare required documentation and evaluations using CIS as well as other systems of documentation. Enter case notes into the CIS systems as required and by established timelines.
โ€ข Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
โ€ข Administer and correct tests; maintain Training Achievement Records (TARs) and attendance reports.
โ€ข Control the use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs; recommend purchases.
โ€ข Participate in providing hands-on activities for students as part of the career preparation program; provide feedback to the career preparation staff.
โ€ข Participate in activities associated with the intellectual and social development of students.
โ€ข In coordination with work-based learning (WBL) staff; develop work-based training sites at the Center, in the community, and at home-based sites; monitor and document student progress at work-based training sites monthly.
โ€ข Work with the community industry advisory council to review and recommend upgrades to the CTT program.
โ€ข Monitor labor market information; develop career transition and job placement plans, and assist with the placement of graduates, in conjunction with the career transition readiness specialist.
โ€ข Work cooperatively with each student's counselor and career transition readiness specialist.
โ€ข Provide strong customer service for both dependent and independent learners leading to trade completion.
โ€ข Prepare statistical reports and corrective action reports as necessary to achieve positive results.
โ€ข Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and other center customers.
โ€ข Regular and predictable attendance is required.
โ€ข Participate in student employability programs and activities.
โ€ข Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
โ€ข Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
โ€ข Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
โ€ข Cultivate and maintain a climate in the center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and certification in the area of instruction. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency are also required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
Additional Special Requirements:
Certified Nursing Assistant: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid registered nursing license, 1-year experience working for a long-term care facility, and train the trainer certification required.
Culinary Arts Instructor: High school diploma, or its equivalent. Must have ServSafe certification. Two years of experience is preferred.
Pharmacy Tech Instructor: High School diploma or its equivalent and two years of related work experience in the field. Certified, licensed, or accredited in Indiana or accredited by a professional trade organization. Prior military experience is preferred.
Security Officer, Certified Protective Services Instructor: High School diploma or its equivalent and two years of related work experience in the field. Certified, licensed, or accredited by a professional trade organization.
