Job Overview:

Paramount Contracting Inc is seeking an experienced, self-sufficient Gate & Access Control Technician to service, troubleshoot, install, and repair commercial gate operators, access-control equipment, and related systems throughout Southern California. The right candidate has strong hands-on knowledge of LiftMaster operators, MAX Controls systems, low-voltage wiring, troubleshooting, and welding/fabrication. This is a field-based role for someone who can diagnose problems independently, communicate professionally with clients, and complete quality work from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial gate operators, access-control systems, and related equipment.
  • Work with LiftMaster gate operators and MAX Controls systems; program, diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Perform low-voltage wiring, electrical troubleshooting, control-panel work, and equipment integration.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, wiring, and communication issues in gate and access-control systems.
  • Complete welding, metal repair, and light fabrication work related to gates, posts, brackets, and operator installations.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and identify repair or replacement needs.
  • Maintain organized service documentation, job notes, material lists, and completed-work reports.
  • Communicate clearly with project managers, property representatives, and customers on job status and recommendations.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and applicable local and state requirements.
  • Travel to job sites across Southern California as projects require.


Qualifications:

  • Proven field experience servicing commercial gates, gate operators, access-control systems, or closely related low-voltage/electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with LiftMaster commercial gate operators.
  • Experience with MAX Controls or similar gate/access-control control systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of low-voltage wiring, electrical components, relays, sensors, safety devices, and operator controls.
  • Welding and fabrication experience, including the ability to complete gate-related repairs and modifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must have and maintain personal trade tools suitable for the role.
  • Professional communication skills and a strong customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to work outdoors, lift and move equipment/materials, work on ladders, and perform physical field work.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with commercial storage facilities, commercial properties, parking systems, fencing, or automatic gates.
  • Familiarity with access-control credentials, keypads, telephone-entry systems, intercoms, cameras, and networking basics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and emergency service calls.
  • Relevant certifications in welding, electrical work, low-voltage systems, gate operators, or access control.
