The Role

As part of our ongoing transformation of financial and project management systems, we are seeking a Project Management & Accounting D365 Administrator to support and enhance our use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O), Project Operations, and related applications. This role is essential to ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, driving adoption of best practices, and enabling accurate and efficient project accounting, billing, and financial management.
The successful candidate will serve as a key administrator, providing user support, maintaining configurations, guiding system strategy, and partnering with business and IT teams to optimize project management, invoicing, collections, and sales processes within D365.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely end-user support for sales, project management, billing, and accounting functions within Dynamics 365 F&O and Project Operations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for project accounting modules including sales & opportunities, project set up, billing, and collections.
  • Administer and configure system settings, workflows, and security roles related to project, sales, and accounting functionality.
  • Collaborate with business development, finance, IT, and project management teams to translate business needs into system solutions and reporting tools.
  • Support month-end and cycle-close activities by ensuring timely support of project transactions, invoices, and revenue recognition.
  • Partner with finance, IT and business stakeholders to plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
  • Lead and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and regression testing to validate system changes and ensure stability.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including standard operating procedures, configuration records, and user guides.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and automate recurring tasks.
  • Train and coach users on effective system use and best practices.

Strategic System Management & Business Process Support:

  • Act as a strategic partner in system planning by aligning platform capabilities with organizational goals.
  • Monitor industry trends, new features, and product roadmaps to recommend and plan system enhancements that improve efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Support sales and business development teams in managing opportunity pipelines, customer and contact lifecycle management, and integration between CRM and ERP modules.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve end-to-end business processes across project delivery, sales, and finance functions.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on system performance, usage, and process optimization to leadership.
  • Ensure alignment of system design with compliance, audit, and data governance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, business administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of proven experience as a system administrator or support specialist with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Project Operations; exposure to Dynamics 365 Sales or Customer Engagement is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting concepts including billing types (T&M, fixed fee, intercompany), cost controls, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience supporting sales processes including opportunities, customer lifecycle, and contact management.
  • Experience configuring security roles, workflows, and integrations in D365.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system issues and work with technical teams to resolve them.
  • Familiarity with month-end close processes, billing cycles, and project management practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to train and support users of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Relevant certifications in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or Dynamics 365 Sales are highly desirable.

Compensation

The rate for this position generally is$130,000-$160,000annually.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Illinois State Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful Illinois State applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Illinois State or perform the position from Illinois State. Similar positions located outside of Illinois State will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byIllinoisEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
