Security system integration involves combining various security subsystems like surveillance cameras, access control, alarms, and IT security into a unified platform. This process ensures that all components work together seamlessly, improving both the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall security solution. Integrators design, implement, and maintain these interconnected systems to provide centralized control, easier monitoring, and faster response to incidents. The goal is to enhance security management while reducing complexity and operational costs.

This is a hands-on role for someone comfortable installing low-voltage equipment, configuring networks, programming security platforms, and troubleshooting integrated systems.

FIS is a family-owned technology integrator serving businesses throughout the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. We specialize in access control, intrusion systems, video surveillance, structured cabling, networking, and connected security solutions. Our team values technical excellence, problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous learning.

As a Security Systems Integration Technician, you'll install, integrate, program, test, and commission commercial security systems, with a primary focus on access control and video surveillance. You'll work across the full project lifecycle, from cabling and device installation to system configuration, networking, troubleshooting, and customer handoff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling for access control, surveillance, and intrusion systems.
  • Mount, wire, and install cameras, card readers, controllers, door contacts, motion detectors, and related equipment.

  • Configure IP cameras, VMS/NVR platforms, and cloud-based video solutions such as Eagle Eye Networks.
  • Configure switches, VLANs, PoE, IP addressing, and other networking components supporting security systems.
  • Perform system programming, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and punch-list closeout.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, networking, and device communication issues.
  • Provide remote technical support for existing service-contract customers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain accurate system configurations, device inventories, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with field technicians, project managers, customers, vendors, and manufacturers to resolve technical issues.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience installing, integrating, and/or programming low-voltage security systems or in a related technical field role.
  • Hands-on experience with low-voltage cabling, device installation, and system integration.
  • Experience with access control platforms such as Brivo, Kantech, or similar systems.
  • Experience configuring IP video surveillance and VMS/NVR platforms.
  • Working knowledge of networking, including switches, VLANs, PoE, and IP addressing.
  • Ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable using hand/power tools, meters, and testing equipment.
  • Strong customer communication and documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company and applicable insurance requirements.
  • Employment is subject to successful completion of applicable job-related background screening following a conditional offer, in accordance with applicable law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Sign-on bonus may be available for candidates meeting specified experience and certification requirements. Amount and eligibility terms will be provided before acceptance of an offer.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid vacation and sick time.
  • Flexible spending and health savings accounts.
  • Employee assistance program.
  • Professional development and paid training opportunities.
  • Company laptop/equipment and phone allowance.
  • Career growth within an expanding technology integration company.
  • Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional after-hours or weekend work based on project requirements, system cutovers, or customer support needs.
