THE ROLE
Win is seeking an experienced and motivated Security Shift Supervisor to oversee security operations within our shelter programs and ensure a safe, secure, and supportive environment for residents, staff, and visitors. In this leadership role, you will supervise Security Guards and Residential Aides, coordinate emergency preparedness efforts, investigate incidents, and support day-to-day shelter operations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Supervise, coach, train, and support Residential Aides and Security Guards during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with the intake process and help orient new residents to the shelter environment.
  • Identify residents with immediate service needs and connect them to appropriate support staff.
  • Conduct routine patrols of the shelter, surrounding property, and perimeter.
  • Monitor facility safety and ensure compliance with security procedures and house rules.
  • Coordinate and conduct fire drills, roll calls, emergency evacuations, and related training.
  • Investigate incidents, gather information, and prepare detailed written reports.
  • Provide crisis intervention and notify appropriate leadership of actions taken.
  • Review daily logs, attendance records, visitor sign-in sheets, and resident logs.
  • Conduct vertical patrols and inspections throughout the facility.
  • Monitor and report signs of substance use, child abuse, criminal activity, or other safety concerns.
  • Maintain familiarity with building systems, safety equipment, and potential facility risks.
  • Complete client intake documentation and reports within the DHS database.
  • Support confidential investigations involving residential and security staff.
WHO YOU WILL BE
  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional education or training is preferred.
  • Valid New York State Security Guard License required.
  • Valid NYS Fire Safety License (F80 or F58) required.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification required or ability to maintain certification.
  • 2–3 years of experience in social services, shelter services, residential operations, or security environments.
  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience leading frontline staff.
  • Strong understanding of safety, security, and emergency response procedures.
  • Experience utilizing CCTV and security monitoring systems.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies and crises.
  • Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
