SUMMARY: The Security Specialist II provides security risk management support for the protection of advanced technology and classified information. The position supports physical, industrial, information, and personnel security activities, including access eligibility determinations, Special Access Program (SAP) security compliance, security incident reporting and investigation, policy interpretation, and review of documentation required for classified information systems. The Security Specialist II works on site in Moorestown, New Jersey, and communicates regularly with program staff, supervisors, managers, civilian and military personnel, contractors, and other Department of Defense stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide security risk management guidance pertaining to the protection of advanced technology and classified information. * Make access eligibility determinations in accordance with the Navy SAP Nomination Process. * Review documentation required for classified information systems in accordance with current regulations. * Support physical, industrial, information, and personnel security programs and activities. * Participate in SAP Security Compliance Inspections and Self-Inspections. * Report, document, and investigate security incidents in accordance with applicable policy and procedures. * Review, interpret, and apply governing security policy, including Executive Orders, DoD Security Directives, and the JAFAN Series. * Conduct site surveys and support physical security accreditations, as required. * Implement organizational security policies and procedures and provide guidance regarding security requirements. * Apply knowledge of security classification methods, access eligibility, personnel security clearances/accesses, and commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies. * Support inspections and investigations by collecting and analyzing information and evaluating factors that affect resolution of security questions and issues. * Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, supervisors, managers, civilian and military personnel, contractors, and other DoD or agency representatives. * Perform other duties as assigned in support of contract and program security requirements. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE: * Greater than four (4) years of relevant experience is required; five (5) years of experience is preferred. * Must have experience in physical, industrial, information, and personnel security. * Must have experience participating in SAP Security Compliance Inspections and Self Inspections. * Must have experience reporting, documenting, and investigating security incidents. * Must have experience reviewing and applying governing policy, including Executive.
* Orders, DoD Security Directives, and the JAFAN Series.
* Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff and supervisors. ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS: As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
