Armed Security Officer – Job Description
Position Summary:
The Armed Security Officer is responsible for protecting employees, visitors, property, and company assets while maintaining a professional and visible security presence. The officer conducts patrols, monitors assigned areas, responds to incidents, and enforces site security procedures. This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, and compliance with all company policies and applicable licensing requirements.
Key Job Duties
•    Maintain a visible armed security presence to deter unauthorized activity, theft, vandalism, and other security concerns. 
•    Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, parking areas, entrances, and property perimeters. 
•    Monitor entrances and exits and verify employee, visitor, vendor, and contractor access as required. 
•    Respond to alarms, disturbances, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and emergency situations. 
•    Observe and report security violations, hazards, unusual activity, and potential threats. 
•    Follow established procedures for contacting supervisors, law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical services when necessary. 
•    Use verbal communication and de-escalation techniques to manage difficult or disruptive situations. 
•    Maintain radio or telephone communication with other security personnel and site management. 
•    Complete accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, patrol logs, and other required documentation. 
•    Assist employees, visitors, and contractors while providing professional customer service. 
•    Secure doors, gates, restricted areas, and other designated access points. 
•    Follow emergency procedures for evacuations, severe weather, fires, medical emergencies, and other incidents. 
•    Maintain control and accountability of assigned security equipment. 
•    Carry and maintain assigned firearm and equipment in accordance with company policy, training requirements, and applicable laws. 
•    Immediately report any security, safety, or equipment concerns to the appropriate supervisor. 
•    Perform additional security duties as required by site post orders. 
Qualifications
•    High school diploma or GED preferred or required based on company standards. 
•    Must meet all applicable state requirements to work as an armed security officer. 
•    Must successfully complete required firearms training and maintain required qualifications. 
•    Strong observation, communication, and report-writing skills. 
•    Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm during stressful situations. 
•    Ability to follow written post orders and verbal instructions. 
•    Professional appearance and strong customer-service skills. 
•    Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if the position requires operating a vehicle. 
Physical Requirements
The officer may be required to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods; climb stairs; work indoors and outdoors; and respond promptly to incidents or emergencies. Physical requirements may vary based on the assigned site.
Note: Armed Security Officers are expected to operate within the scope of their training, authority, company policy, post orders, and applicable state law.
