JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: ECURITY MANAGER

FLSA: EXEMPT

DIVISION: SERVICES - SECURITY

REPORT TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR

LOCATIONS: QUEENS, NEW YORK


SUMMARY: The Security Manager is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of clients and staff in a NYC homeless shelter. This position reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing supervision to the Shift Supervisors and Safety Security Officers, and the day-to-day functions of the shelter. This position requires you to be on call 24/7.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight and supervision to the Shift Supervisors. Assure all Shift Supervisors are trained on appropriate DHS and Westhab policies.
  • Provide support to all aspects of building operations
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Social Services to ensure that clients are adhering to Westhab and DHS mandates
  • Ensure that all client rooms are inspected by the Safety Security Officers daily
  • Monitor the logging and storage of client property
  • Ensure that the storage area is organized and follows the mandated storage rule as per DHS
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Social Services to ensure clients are complying with Westhab and DHS mandates.
  • Supervise random locker and room searches regularly
  • Conduct random inspections throughout the facility (interior and exterior) to monitor hazardous situations, trespassers, illegal activities, staff performance, etc.
  • Participate in weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings
  • Monitor reception area and security staff at the front desk, and provide crisis intervention when needed to maintain a safe environment
  • Complete and maintain assigned paperwork, i.e., entry logs, incident reports, CPS reports, and all other reports.
  • Keep critical binders up to date, including monitoring and alerting staff of credential expiration dates, responding to and filing client complaints, and ensuring building inspections are completed and filed.
  • Create weekly schedules and monitor attendance and timesheet submissions to ensure accuracy
  • Approve and submit timecards for payroll Bi-weekly
  • Monitor overtime hours per pay period
  • Assist the Program Director by preparing/executing fire drills and other emergencies.
  • Participate in the interview and selection process of new staff and train new employees on the procedures of the center
  • Work with the Program Director to ensure that the site is appropriately staffed
  • Other job-related duties assigned by the Program Director

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Proof of education required. An Associate's Degree preferred, and at least three years of related security experience. NYS Security Guard license and F80 required. Supervisory experience is required. Must have demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, crisis management, and knowledge of video surveillance and fire alarm systems. Knowledge of CARES and DHS protocols preferred. Understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements is a plus. Valid NYS driver’s license required. 24-hour on-call for emergencies.
