Description
Gray Analytics is seeking a skilled Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join our team supporting the Tactical Innovation and Experimentation Laboratory (TIEL) program, with a strong focus on automation, security integration, and operational excellence within DoD environments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, resilient infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines that enable rapid, reliable software delivery. This position requires someone who excels in bridging development, security, and operations disciplines and is committed to embedding security throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
The Senior DevSecOps Engineer will serve as a key technical contributor on a collaborative DevSecOps team, working closely with developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity professionals to bring modern software development techniques to our DoD customers. The engineer will serve as an escalation point for critical and complex issues, perform configuration, integration, and testing of products, assist with developing and documenting work processes, and mentor other team members.
This role is primarily on-site and involves working on systems of varying classification levels across both online and offline (air-gapped) networks. The candidate will perform tasks on both physical and virtual Linux and Windows systems and will support the maintenance of the TIEL's Authority to Operate (ATO).
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines covering the full software development lifecycle.
  • Automate build, test, deployment, and system administration tasks using Ansible, Bash, and Python.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code for consistent, auditable environment provisioning.
  • Integrate automated security testing, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support RMF processes and maintain compliance with DoD security standards and STIGs across Linux and Windows systems, using tools such as Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Implement security controls including RBAC, firewalls, file integrity monitoring, and encryption; support SIEM integration.
  • Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, and disaster recovery across development and production environments.
  • Deploy and maintain Linux (primarily RHEL) and Windows systems, including containerized environments (Kubernetes, Podman, OpenShift) and virtualization (KVM, VMware vCenter).
  • Support HPE Synergy storage/networking infrastructure and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
  • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for operational awareness and incident response.
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and security policies.

Requirements
  • US Citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years or high school diploma with 10+ years of experience in DevSecOps, systems engineering, or infrastructure automation within DoD or defense contractor environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with RHEL, Linux security practices, and shell/Python scripting.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, or similar), Ansible Automation Platform, and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Experience with containerization/orchestration (Kubernetes, Podman, Docker, OpenShift) and virtualization (KVM, VMware).
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Windows 11.
  • Familiarity with DoD security compliance frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171).
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD 8140-compliant certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA, or equivalent).

Desired Qualifications
  • RHCE or equivalent Linux certification.
  • Prior DoD program experience, especially Army Air and Missile Defense systems.
  • Experience in air-gapped environments and STIG compliance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana) and Agile/DevOps practices.Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools within a Linux ecosystem.
