Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring RPL - Security Technicians in Rayville, LA. The Security Technician is responsible for the installation and termination of physical security devices, including card readers and IP cameras, within a commercial environment. The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional with strong RJ45 termination skills and the ability to execute technical tasks independently without direct oversight.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $23 to $31 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Install and terminate security devices including card readers, cameras, and associated hardware.
  • Perform precise RJ45 terminations for network-connected security equipment and infrastructure.
  • Mount and secure security cameras in various indoor and outdoor locations according to site plans.
  • Route and manage low-voltage cabling through designated pathways and conduits.
  • Conduct independent installation tasks with minimal supervision to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Test and verify the functionality of installed devices to ensure proper integration with security systems.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and safety throughout the installation process.
  • Communicate project progress and any field issues to the lead technician or project manager.
  • Utilize hand tools and specialized testing equipment to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Document completed work orders and maintain organized records of device placement.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Security Technician at the CT2 or CT3 level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in RJ45 termination and security camera installation.
  • Direct experience installing access control peripherals such as card readers and door strikes.
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated without constant oversight.
  • Strong technical understanding of low-voltage cabling and IP-based security systems.
  • Proficiency in English is preferred; Spanish language skills are an acceptable alternative.
  • Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, and multi-meters for security deployments.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical schematics and device layouts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills related to hardware connectivity and cable integrity.
  • Ability to follow strict safety protocols and industry best practices for security installations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Capable of working on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts at various heights.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for the duration of a shift.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for terminating small wires.
  • Ability to work in construction environments including exposure to dust and varying temperatures.
