Position Overview:
As our Electrical Technician - Junior you will support nuclear outage and field activities by performing assigned electrical maintenance, installation, and equipment tasks under direct supervision. This role includes assisting with temporary power, communications, camera systems, and site network setup required to support BWXT field operations at nuclear facilities.

Please note: This position requries travel to customer sites approximately 60-80% of the time.

Your Day to Day as our Electrical Technician - Junior

  • Perform electrical maintenance, installation, inspection, and equipment support activities
  • Execute work in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, and work packages
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Support setup and teardown of BWXT temporary electrical, network, and communications systems at nuclear sites
  • Assist with installation and basic configuration of cameras, video systems, and associated cabling
  • Use electrical test equipment to support troubleshooting and verification activities
  • Maintain control of electrical tools, test equipment, cameras, and communications equipment
  • Use approved software systems to support work execution, material tracking, and documentation
  • Follow plant rules, radiation protection requirements, electrical safety standards, and nuclear quality requirements
  • Support outage schedules, emergent field work, and extended work hours as required
  • Software and diagnostics: Operate and troubleshoot a variety of programming, diagnostic, and operational software applications.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs: Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical and mechanical issues in tooling and related systems.
  • Provide valuable input for tool design and optimization based on hands-on testing and real-world field experience
  • Perform electrical and equipment setup tasks under direct supervision
  • Assist with cable routing, terminations, temporary power distribution, and equipment installation
  • Learn BWXT field network configurations, camera systems, and communications equipment
  • Develop proficiency in reading schematics, loop drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Accurately document work status and field observations

Security Clearance:

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process.  The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Electrical Technician / Technologist diploma, electrical trade background, or related technical education
  • 1-3 years of electrical or industrial field experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to nuclear or regulated industrial environments
  • Introductory experience with:
    • Temporary power and field communications systems
    • Camera or video-based inspection systems
    • ToolHound, SAP, and Microsoft Office applications

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $$68,000 and $$100,000 per year. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
