Job Title: Senior Security Systems Technician
Location: Markham, Ontario
Type: Full-time, Permanent

Experience: 5+ years


Spotter Security is growing, and we need another Senior Security System Technician that will bring more leadership and skill to our technical team. This role is perfect for someone that has over 5 years experience installing commercial security systems.


Our Security Systems Technicians are the face of our company as the person with whom our clients will meet with most often, your success will build positive relationships with our clients.


Security Systems Technicians Overview

This is very much a hands-on position. You will be driving to customer sites to install, maintain, and update their security system hardware. Our technicians work individually and in teams; we have worked hard to achieve a supportive environment where you can learn from each other. Our customers' worksites span across the GTA, and you will need to begin and end each day at our Markham office.


Successful technicians will be able to:

  • Communicate effectively with our customers, and manage their expectations;
  • Help lead colleagues through installation projects and service calls;
  • Help teach colleagues about security systems and equipment;
  • Install low voltage cable for security cameras, card access systems, and alarm systems;
  • Terminate CAT5/6 cable with RJ45 and into a patch panel;
  • Mount and terminate access control panels (S2, Brivo, Avigilon);
  • Mount and focus IP cameras (Axis, Avigilon);
  • Mount and terminate alarm panels (DSC);
  • Mount network racks and wall enclosures;
  • Install and terminate door strikes and card readers;
  • Read blueprints and drawings.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Have 5+ years experience installing and/or maintaining cabling, security cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and/or similar experience.
    • Including experience with at least some of: Avigilon, Milestone, S2, Axis, ExacQ, DSC, Brivo, Eagle Eye, & OpenEye
  • Must have a valid full G-class license
  • Clean driving record/abstract
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Must be currently able to legally work in Canada.

While we appreciate all candidates, these are only the minimum requirements that must be met to be considered for the position, and meeting them alone may not be sufficient for further consideration.


These additional certifications would make your application more competitive, but are not necessary:

  • Ministry approved Working at Heights certification
  • Boom/Scissor lift and/or Bucket Trucksafety training
  • Product knowledge certification/courses
  • Completion of IPVM courses
  • Education in Technologist or Electrical programs
