Job description

Within our Electronic Security Solutions (ESS) team, we go beyond traditional security, engineering integrated electronic security systems including IP-based access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection systems that safeguard people, assets and operations.

The Lead Installation Technician โ€“ Electronic Security is a senior field role responsible for leading installation activities and supporting the successful deployment of electronic security systems across client sites. You will oversee technicians while performing hands-on installation, taking ownership of delivery to ensure systems meet scope, quality standards, and timelines.

Working closely with project managers and field supervisors, you will interpret drawings, coordinate installation activities, and support system configuration, testing, and troubleshooting across access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Lead and oversee installation technicians while performing hands-on installation of electronic security systems.
  • Deliver installation of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems in line with project scope and standards.
  • Interpret drawings, BOMs, and system documentation to guide installation activities.
  • Manage daily workload, priorities, and schedules, maintaining progress and escalating risks as needed.
  • Monitor onsite performance, ensuring quality, productivity, and adherence to DIV28 specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project teams, and technicians to maintain alignment.
  • Identify and escalate design, drawing, or material issues, including missing or defective equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including work progress, site readiness, inventory, RFIs, and redlines.
  • Support inventory tracking and material coordination across project sites.
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and on-the-job training to installation technicians.

Physical Demands:

Work may occur on active construction sites with required PPE. The role involves extended periods on foot, climbing ladders and stairs, and lifting materials up to 40 pounds.

What Youโ€™ll Bring:

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred certifications with Lenel OnGuard, Genetec, Avigilon, AMAG, S2, Honeywell, Software House, Bosch, DMP.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience installing access control and surveillance systems in large commercial environments.
  • Experienced in supervising, coaching, and training technicians to company standards while providing constructive feedback.
  • Previous experience operating scissor lifts, forklifts, boom lifts, and comparable powered industrial equipment.
  • Experience reading construction drawings and coordinating across multiple trades.
  • Proficiency using Teams, Outlook, OneNote, BlueBeam, Adobe Reader.
  • Knowledge of project documentation including matrices, SRDs, UILs, JHAs, THAs, RHAs, RFIs, and redlines.
  • Ability to maintain schedules and follow DIV28 Specifications for Quality Control (QC).
  • Experience with Genetec, Avigilon, Lenel, AMAG, S2, Honeywell, Software House, Bosch, DMP.
  • Mechanical retrofitting knowledge for door frames and electric hardware.
  • Basic electrical theory knowledge (low-voltage, grounding, polarity, continuity, voltage drop).
  • Skilled in installing, troubleshooting, and configuring ACS, CCTV, and intercom systems, including network interface access and PC admin-level changes for controllers, cameras, and switches.
  • Clean driving record and background check eligibility.
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel as required.
