Job description

Job Title: Genetec Security ProgrammerClassification: Full Time/Non-ExemptJob Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Genetec Security Programmer to join our team. This position is responsible for the programming, configuration, commissioning, and support of integrated security systems utilizing Genetec Security Center and related technologies.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of electronic security systems, enjoys solving technical challenges, and can work effectively with project managers, engineers, technicians, and customers to deliver reliable and well-designed security solutions.

Reporting Relationship:
  • Reports to Director of Technology
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Program, configure, and commission Genetec Security Center and associated security platforms.
  • Configure and integrate video surveillance, access control, intercom, license plate recognition, intrusion detection, and other security technologies.
  • Configure servers, workstations, security devices, cameras, access control hardware, readers, doors, alarms, and associated system components.
  • Develop and maintain system databases, user permissions, access levels, schedules, alarm configurations, and system workflows.
  • Integrate Genetec with third-party security and building systems as required.
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and final system validation.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to understand system designs, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Assist field technicians with system startup, programming, troubleshooting, and technical support.
  • Participate in system acceptance testing and resolve programming or configuration issues prior to customer turnover.
  • Create and maintain system documentation, programming notes, as-built information, and configuration records.
  • Provide customer training on system operation and administration when required.
  • Troubleshoot network, server, software, hardware, and system-integration issues.
  • Assist with service calls and provide remote or onsite technical support.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Genetec products, software releases, integrations, and industry best practices.
  • Follow company standards for cybersecurity, system configuration, documentation, and project closeout.
  • Maintain a professional and positive relationship with customers, vendors, coworkers, and project partners.
Qualifications:
  • Experience programming or administering Genetec Security Center or similar enterprise security platforms.
  • Working knowledge of video surveillance and IP camera systems.
  • Working knowledge of access control systems and door hardware.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, IP addressing, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and workstation environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and system-integration issues.
  • Ability to read and understand security system drawings, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate system documentation.

  • Experience with Genetec Security Center modules such as Omnicast, Synergis, AutoVu, Mission Control, SC SaaS, and ClearID.
  • Experience with Mercury access control hardware.
  • Experience with IP-based video surveillance systems.
  • Experience integrating security systems with Active Directory, building management systems, intercom systems, or other third-party platforms.
  • Experience with SQL databases and basic database troubleshooting.
  • Experience with enterprise networking and cybersecurity practices.
  • Experience commissioning large commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, or government security systems.
  • Low-voltage or electronic security industry experience.
