Job description

About the Role:
 
A Security / Access Control Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising low voltage installation crews on commercial and data center construction projects. This role oversees daily field operations including card readers, REX devices, biometrics, mag locks, cable installation, pathway build out, terminations, testing, and quality control. The Foreman ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract specifications and industry standards. This position requires strong technical expertise along with proven leadership and jobsite coordination skills.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervise and lead security/access control and structured cabling technicians and cable pullers on active construction sites.
  • Plan daily work activities and coordinate manpower to meet project deadlines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, rack elevations, cable schedules, and project specifications.
  • Oversee installation of card readers, mag locks, REX devices, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling systems.
  • Ensure proper installation of cable pathways including ladder rack, basket tray, J hooks, D rings, and conduit systems.
  • Oversee termination and testing of copper and fiber systems using Fluke testers and OTDR equipment.
  • Maintain quality control standards including labeling, cable dressing, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, electricians, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Track materials, manage inventory, and communicate material needs to project management.
  • Conduct jobsite safety meetings and ensure OSHA compliance at all times.
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges and provide technical guidance to crew members.
  • Support rack and stack, equipment mounting, and data center white space build outs when required.
  • Maintain daily progress reports and communicate updates to project managers.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms as required.
  • Experience in commercial and data center structured cabling environments is required. BICSI certification or manufacturer certifications are a strong plus.
 
Required Qualifications:
 
  • Reliable transportation and ability to report to the jobsite on time daily.
  • Valid driver’s license if required for the role.
  • Full PPE including hard hat, safety vest, steel toe boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Basic hand tools and trade specific tools as required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to take direction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as needed.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Ability to work in secure or badge access environments.
