About This Opportunity

The Enterprise Security team protects InComm's people, data, and payment platforms. We're looking for a motivated Information Security Intern to work alongside our security engineers and analysts on real-world projects including security monitoring, endpoint protection, network risk analysis and asset management. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how a modern security operations program runs day to day, with direct mentorship from experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Assist with documenting security log collection, monitoring, and tuning in our SIEM platform
  • Support creating asset inventory reports and reviewing security controls effectiveness
  • Research emerging threats and summarize them for the team
  • Build or improve documentation, runbooks, and reporting dashboards
  • Help review security requests and changes, documenting findings and recommendations
  • Participate in team standups, security reviews, and project planning

Qualifications

Internship Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time academic program, currently a junior or rising senior enrolled at a local Atlanta University (e.g., Georgia State University, University of Georgia, Kennesaw State University), currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Expected Graduation: Students must be on track to graduate in May or December 2027.
  • GPA Requirements: A minimum GPA of 3.0 or above is required to be considered for the position.
  • Location Requirement: This is a remote internship based in Atlanta, Georgia. Applicants must be local to Atlanta, Georgia, and able to work in person (or hybrid, as required).
  • Availability: Must be available at least 20 hours per week on weekdays yearround; schedule is flexible to accommodate academic commitments

What We're Looking For

  • Foundational understanding of networking, operating systems, and security concepts (CIA triad, common attack types, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/Entra) and/or scripting (Python, PowerShell) is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn

Nice to Have

  • Coursework or labs in SIEM, endpoint protection, network engineering, or API development
  • Security certifications in progress
  • Experience with ticketing/ITSM tools
