Key Responsibilities
This is a rare opportunity in Utah to gain practical experience with an institutional investment portfolio. The School and Institutional Trust Funds Office (SITFO) was created in 2015 to manage state trust land revenues and the existing portfolio of approximately $4.6 billion. Portfolio asset allocation includes exposure to public and private markets, domestic and global, and other risk-diversifying strategies.
The Analyst Intern will work closely with SITFO staff to assist in a variety of investment-related activities. The Analyst Intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple aspects of an institutional investment entity and industry-standard software platforms.
• SITFO typically prefers 1-year commitments from successful candidates
• The intern is expected to work 20-29 hours per week
• This is a paid position, $22/hour
Examples of Duties:
• Assist in building and maintaining economic, investment, and portfolio reports and models
• Conduct analysis for manager research in support of recommendations
• Additional one-off projects consistent with SITFO's mission
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Communication will be important on a small team. Articulating information and ideas clearly, and concisely, verbally and in deliverables is expected
• Ability to think and act independently to innovate and improve workflows and processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to work with people, internally/externally in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
• Capable of succeeding independently or in a team
Preferences:
• Degree in finance, business, economics, econometrics, accounting, mathematics or related field or progress towards
• 3.0 Minimum grade point average
• Relevant coursework or practical experience
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience in Bloomberg
• Interest in finance and investing
• Self-starter with high energy
• Learner's mindset
