The Team

S&P Global Ratings' Structured Finance and Alternate Investment Funds practice is part of the Global Ratings Services team, a diverse community of 1,400 analysts across major financial centers worldwide, dedicated to delivering high-quality insights and exceptional client service.

The team evaluates the credit risk of securitized products and fund structures by analyzing underlying asset performance, structural protections, cash-flow mechanics, and downside stress scenarios. This is a collaborative, innovation-driven environment at the forefront of structured finance ratings, where human expertise and analytical rigor remain central to every credit opinion.

Responsibilities and Impact

  • Own delivery for assigned credits by maintaining clear status updates, prioritizing effectively, and escalating risks early to ensure timely, decision-ready credit opinions on complex structured finance transactions, including asset-backed securities (ABS), Letters of Credit, Tender Option Bonds, and Commercial Paper.

  • Maintain ongoing surveillance for assigned credits, synthesizing market and asset performance developments into insights that directly inform analytical discussions and rating committee materials.

  • Build and maintain analytical models and packs using standard templates, applying automation where appropriate while retaining full human accountability for conclusions and documented assumptions.

  • Use approved generative AI and large language model tools to augment research, drafting, and data comparison tasks, and contribute reusable prompts and templates that strengthen team-wide productivity.

  • Prepare well-evidenced rating committee materials and translate complex data and analysis into clear, structured narratives tailored to rating committees, clients, and senior stakeholders.

  • Apply confidentiality, documentation, and governance standards consistently across all analytical and operational workflows, upholding human accountability and analytical integrity throughout.

Compensation and Benefits Information (US Candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $62,000 to $88,000 USD. Final base salary will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is 64,000 to 104,000 CAD. Final compensation will be based on the individual's performance, geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What We're Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, structured finance, or a related financial field.

  • Demonstrated research and data analysis skills, including financial statement competence and a solid understanding of credit and risk concepts applicable to structured products.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis in a clear, evidence-based, and structured format for diverse audiences.

  • High standards for analytical accuracy, traceability, and documentation, with demonstrated adherence to confidentiality and governance requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience using generative AI or large language model tools to support analytical research, data workflows, or professional drafting.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting financial modeling in a structured finance, ABS, or related credit environment.

  • Strong spreadsheet skills and willingness to develop proficiency in data and automation tools, including the ability to supervise and validate automated outputs.

  • Collaborative working style with the ability to manage competing priorities and communicate clearly in a team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to support junior colleagues through knowledge sharing, quality checks, and responsible use of analytical tools.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
