Job Title: Full stack developer (Vulnerability management heavy backend)
Location: NYC, NY (Onsite 4 days per week)
Duration: 12+ Months 
Position type: contract (USC/GC/H4)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team developing a next-generation Vulnerability Management Platform. The ideal candidate will have strong backend development expertise, hands-on experience building RESTful APIs, and proficiency with modern front-end technologies. This role requires an engineer who can independently lead medium to large-scale initiatives, deliver high-quality software solutions, and drive application enhancements with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs for an enterprise vulnerability management platform.
  • Build and enhance API-driven applications using OpenAPI specifications and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain lightweight, responsive user interfaces using React, with a strong focus on API integration.
  • Design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL databases to support application performance and scalability.
  • Manage the end-to-end vulnerability ticket lifecycle through efficient application workflows and backend services.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects while implementing enhancements and new features.
  • Lead medium to large-scale software development projects with minimal technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, security teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
  • Participate in system design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning sessions.
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and maintainability through adherence to software engineering best practices.
  • Support continuous integration, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and development processes.
  • Document technical designs, APIs, and application architecture.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software development experience with strong full-stack engineering expertise.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing backend services and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs using OpenAPI specifications.
  • Proficiency with React for modern front-end application development.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL database design, development, and optimization.
  • Experience independently leading medium to large-scale software development projects.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and application enhancement experience.
  • Experience developing secure, scalable, and high-performance enterprise applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience developing vulnerability management, cybersecurity, or security operations platforms.
  • Experience building applications that manage workflow or ticket lifecycle processes.
  • Background working on complex open-source software projects or enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Familiarity with modern software architecture, API-first development, and cloud-native applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of enterprise security principles and secure software development practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
