Job description

The Opportunity

Under the direction of the Manager, Software Engineering, the Senior Software Engineer supports the architecture, development, integration, and ongoing reliability of enterprise applications connecting eCommerce platforms, ERP systems, and internal tools. This role operates across both front-end and back-end systems, with a strong emphasis on enterprise integrations, data movement, platform reliability, and full-stack application development.

This individual plays a key role in designing, developing, and supporting integrations between OroCommerce and IFS ERP, leveraging APIs, middleware platforms such as Boomi, and direct system interactions. In addition to integration work, this role contributes to maintaining and enhancing enterprise applications, provides technical guidance to team members, and supports the delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that align with business objectives.

What You’ll Do

Enterprise Integrations & APIs

  • Design, build, and maintain integrations between eCommerce, ERP, and internal systems using Boomi or similar integration platforms.
  • Develop and support RESTful APIs and data exchange processes.
  • Manage data synchronization, transformation, and validation across systems.
  • Lead the implementation and support of complex integration solutions involving OroCommerce, IFS ERP, and third-party systems.
  • Act as a technical resource for complex integration and API development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve integration design and implementation challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration-related issues while promoting reliable and maintainable integration practices

Application Development (Front-End & Back-End)

  • Support and enhance OroCommerce (PHP/Symfony) functionality.
  • Contribute to both UI and server-side development as needed.
  • Ensure applications are performant, scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Develop and support enterprise applications using PHP, Oracle PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Review application designs and code for maintainability, performance, and adherence to established standards.
  • Support junior and mid-level developers through technical coaching and peer reviews.
  • Follow and reinforce established software development best practices and coding standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on application quality, maintainability, and operational efficiency.

Production Support & System Reliability

  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues across integrations and applications.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes.
  • Support deployments and ensure stability across releases.
  • Lead resolution of complex production issues affecting enterprise applications and integrations.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts during major production incidents.
  • Identify recurring application and integration issues and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to application monitoring, performance optimization, and operational improvements.
  • Participate in SDLC activities including development, testing, deployment, and support.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Partner with IT, business stakeholders, and vendors to deliver integration and application solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and backlog refinement.
  • Maintain technical documentation for systems, integrations, and workflows.
  • Provide technical input during solution design and project planning activities.
  • Mentor and support Software Engineers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
  • Assist with project estimation, technical analysis, and solution recommendations.
  • Share technical knowledge through documentation, peer mentoring, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across software development and support processes.
What You Bring

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required

Experience

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience across front-end and back-end development.
  • Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and middleware platforms.
  • Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms, preferably OroCommerce.
  • Experience with ERP systems and integrations, preferably IFS ERP.
  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms, preferably Boomi.
  • Experience developing applications using PHP and Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring software engineers preferred.
  • Experience working within Agile software development methodologies.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience with integration platforms (Boomi preferred; MuleSoft, Workato, or similar acceptable).
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, and integration patterns.
  • Advanced proficiency with PHP (Symfony preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Understanding of data synchronization, transformation, and system interoperability.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience supporting OroCommerce development and customization preferred.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications with IFS ERP preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
