Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sr. Systems Engineer collaborates with the Architecture and Engineering teams in the implementation and operation of Verra Mobility. This position works closely with the IT Operations Manager and various technology disciplines to implement best-in-class cloud technology deployment to support business initiatives. This role includes implementing, supporting, securing, and monitoring services on premises, in Microsoft Azure and cloud ecosystems. The position is preferred in Indy, Mesa, Phoenix, or Chicago.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Implement on premise technologies, private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid solutions primarily in Azure.

Manage and support hyperconverged platforms such as Cisco UCS, VxRail and VMware

Implement availability and performance monitoring frameworks.

Implement and test system-level High Availability and Disaster Recovery plans.

Track, control, and report the status of system conditions, software, documentation, and infrastructure changes to management.

Develop and maintain automation scripts or frameworks.

Provide high-quality support to customers, prospects, management, and peers.

Interpret and provide solutions on complex technologies/architectures.

Design and deliver secure cloud solutions on Azure or AWS.

Deep Windows Server expertise and Linux knowledge.

Cloud Formation / Automation / PowerShell / DSC / Comparable Linux Scripting.

Architecture design, system evaluation, system analysis, and infrastructure assessment.

Leverage resource tagging to allocate costs and optimize resource planning.

Lead incident management, involving other support organizations and outside vendors.

Participate in a global follow-the-sun support model, including after-hours and on-call responsibilities, as needed.

Provide work breakdown and estimates for complex tasks.

Additional Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of Tanium, Windows/Linus patching, 3rd party application patching and Reporting.

Knowledge of Rubrik backups, hands on experience with cloud storage (Qumulo, NetApp)

Knowledge of Azure, Networking, NSG, EntraID, Storage Accounts, Private Endpoints, Virtual Machines, etc.

Expertise in VMware, including Template Creation and VM Management.

Experience with Zerto, including VPG Migration and VPG Setup.

Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and Account Management.

Requirements:

6+ years of relevant work experience in on premise datacenter environments, private/public cloud, SAN, and networking.

Relevant Datacenter or Cloud certification accreditations.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Self-directed approach with a high degree of initiative to propose new solutions, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.

BS in Computer Science or related experience.

Experience in data center installation and operations.

Strong understanding of hyper-converged infrastructure.

Experience supporting multi-site and hot-hot architectures.

Strong working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems is a must.

Expertise in VMware data center stack; VxRail, vSphere, NSX, vROP's, and storage.

Experience implementing scripts for automation and systems management.

Familiar with multi-tiered escalation and on-call procedures.

Experience working in SOX, SOC2, ISO, and PCI compliant multi-tenant environments.

Hands-on experience assisting Software Engineering and Quality Assurance with deployment issues related to the different classes of environments that comprise the infrastructure
