Job description

TITLE: Secretary, Clerical

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum High School Diploma/GED (Associates Degree Preferred).
  2. Minimum 2 years of secretarial/clerical experience, 5 years preferred.
  3. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Applications; Google Drive, and/or other automated departmental systems.

REPORTS TO: Administrator of DECC Programs

LOCATION: DECC

JOB GOAL: To contribute to the efficient operation of an office so that it can play its effective part in the education process.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs office routines such as typing, telephoning, recording and retrieving data, filing, record keeping, organizing and duplicating materials.
  2. Maintains student education records as required.
  3. Receives, sorts, stamps and distributes mail.
  4. Operates and maintains standard office equipment.
  5. Answers telephones, routes and records messages; makes calls as needed.
  6. Receives, inventories and distributes office supplies and materials.
  7. Establishes a positive and welcoming environment.
  8. Communicates professionally and effectively with all members of the school community.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor that pertain to the position of Clerk.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Additional training in financial procedures and programs relating to the specific requirements of the position.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months with salary established by the Lake Forest Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
The following are conditions of employment for new employees:

  1. Satisfactory criminal background check prior to being placed on payroll.
  2. Satisfactory child protection registry check.
  3. Mandatory direct deposit of pay.
  4. Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
