SECOND SHIFT SUPERVISOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Second Shift Supervisor is essential in ensuring that fabrication operates successfully, meeting quality standards, staying on schedule, and staying within budget. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the complete life cycle of complex structural steel projects. The Second Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing second shift operations of the steel fabrication plant and managing employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and lead employees, coordinating appropriate training, assigning tasks, and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Plan work so that priorities are properly achieved, and work is completed in the most efficient way while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products, coordinating with procurement teams to ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Ensure that schedules are met, overseeing the production process, and troubleshooting any issues that arise to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain work records as required.
  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting failures of machines and systems.
  • Oversee simple rigging operations and occasional heavy or complex rigging.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and manlifts, as necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping by cleaning and organizing work areas.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are followed.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Highly motivated individual.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in structural steel fabrication processes, equipment, and materials preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Proficiency in safety regulations and procedures related to steel fabrication.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to organize and manage Reporting Requirements.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision making, and troubleshooting skills.
  • MS Office, proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with Company Management Software/ERP.
