We are proud to host the largest annual one-day food drive in the state of Texas.

Job Summary/Description:

KWTX is searching for a versatile, high-energy Weekend Anchor/Producer & Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ). We are looking for a dynamic, digital-first storyteller who can command the anchor desk, craft a compelling newscast from scratch, and hit the streets to uncover impactful local stories. Our weekend evening broadcasts operate as a tight, collaborative two-person anchor-producing team. One evening you will be anchoring the newscast while your partner produces; the next evening, you will swap roles to produce the show while your partner anchors. During the week (3 days per week), you will serve as an MMJ and digital reporter, digging into the community, developing sources, and owning the screen—both on-air, on our live streaming platforms, and in the palm of our viewers' hands.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Own the Weekend Desk: Anchor weekend evening newscasts with authority, authenticity, and a deep connection to our audience.
• Produce Like a Pro: Take turns producing high-impact, urgent, and visually engaging weekend evening newscasts as part of our collaborative two-person team.
• Tell Compelling Stories: Spend 3 days a week in the field as an MMJ—shooting, writing, editing, and active-reporting stories that matter to Central Texans.
• Lead with a Digital & Streaming-First Mindset: Write, publish, and live-stream breaking news, daily stories, and engaging content across our website, mobile apps, OTT/streaming channels, and social media platforms.
• Build Community Connections: Develop local sources, pitch original story ideas daily, and proudly represent KWTX at community events.
• Collaborate & Adapt: Work closely with editors, photographers, and the weather team to deliver seamless, high-quality broadcasts under tight deadlines.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• The Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience as an Anchor, Producer, or MMJ in a commercial television newsroom.
• Dual-Threat Skillset: Proven ability to both anchor with a strong, trustworthy on-air presence and produce a structured, well-paced newscast using modern CMS and newsroom systems.
• Creative Storytelling: A passion for visual storytelling, creative writing, and active stand-ups. You don't just report the news; you tell a story.
• Streaming & Technical Chops: Experience with live-streaming technologies, digital publishing tools, shooting on professional cameras, and editing on non-linear platforms (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Grass Valley, or similar).
• Cool Under Pressure: Quick on your feet with excellent ad-libbing skills, sharp news judgment, and the ability to handle breaking news and live-streamed events with composure and clarity.
• The Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, a clean driving record, and a commitment to a drug-free workplace.
