Job description

Description Charleston County Public Works Department is looking for a highly motivated, qualified individual to join our Mosquito Control Division team. This position is under the direction of the Mosquito Control Chief Pilot to perform pilot-in-command duties while operating an MD500D helicopter. The missions to be performed are area inspections and aerial applications within Charleston County, as well as any other missions the county requires.

The position also works closely with Charleston County Mosquito Controls fixed wing applicator contractor. HIRING SALARY RANGE: $60,840 - $98,508.80 (Salary dependent upon applicant's qualifications) OPEN UNTIL FILLED - APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELY Duties and Responsibilities Duties include; performing all aviation skills required, in order to operate an MD500D helicopter as the pilot-in-command; inspecting potential mosquito breeding areas by helicopter; flying with aerial inspectors to inspect dredge disposal and other sites depending on rainfall and/or tides; scheduling and coordinating aircraft, personnel, equipment and application products in order to apply pesticides to chosen area's; completing the proper recording of all inspection and application activities into the appropriate management systems; maintaining inventory of aerial application products. Having the ability to interpret experiences accurately and the flexibility to adapt to changing situations. Minimum Qualifications Position requires; FAA Commercial Pilot's Certificate with helicopter and instrument rating; current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate; 1,250 hours total helicopter time; 1,000 hours turbine helicopter time; 500 hours pilot-in-command time; 100 hours MD500 series helicopters time; 200 hours aerial application time; valid South Carolina driver's license; understanding of industry safety and management systems; excellent communication and supervisory skills

Must obtain South Carolina Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator and Aerial Applicator license within one year of hire date, unless previously attained.
