The Assistant General Manager is a key leadership position at Enswell, serving as the primary partner to the General Manager and helping ensure the seamless execution of every aspect of the guest experience. This role is rooted in hospitality, operational excellence, and a hands-on leadership style that supports both the front and back of house, and leads the private event and catering programs. The Assistant General Manager works closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations while taking an active role in supporting the bar program and collaborating with the kitchen to ensure smooth communication and service execution. They are expected to have a strong understanding of both beverage operations and culinary service, acting as a bridge between departments to maintain consistency, efficiency, and the high standards that define the Enswell experience. Role Summary:
The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and an exceptional guest experience. This role provides leadership across both Front of House and Back of House, develops department leaders, and is responsible for executing business objectives while fostering a positive, high-performing culture.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Leading daily restaurant operations by supporting floor leadership, managing major guest escalations, reinforcing hospitality and service standards, and ensuring effective communication across all departments.
  • Overseeing restaurant staffing and performance by leading BOH recruitment with Exec Chef, partnering on progressive discipline, supporting team development and culture, and providing leadership to managers.
  • Managing labor and operational efficiency by overseeing daily labor deployment and adjustments, reviewing labor performance, and coordinating vendor relationships, equipment maintenance, and facility needs.
  • Driving operational excellence through oversight of standard operating procedures, inventory support, financial reporting, cost controls, KPI tracking, and execution of company initiatives.
  • Managing restaurant programs and partnerships, including private events, catering, bar program execution, and community engagement.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace safety requirements while supporting overall operational compliance and risk management, including RAMP and ServSafe certifications.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of progressive restaurant leadership experience
  • Experience leading multiple departments within a full-service restaurant.
  • Demonstrated success coaching and developing leaders.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing labor and operating costs.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and guest recovery skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution focused while leading a fast paced hospitality operation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of POS systems, restaurant management software, and reservation software
  • Understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations
  • ServSafe Certification and RAMP Certification

Physical Demands:
  • This position will require the employee to periodically lift, push, pull or carry items up to 50 lbs in weight (putting away deliveries of boxes, cold brew kegs, outdoor furniture)
  • This position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time
  • This position will require the employee to periodically climb stairs, ramps or uneven surfaces
