Job Title: Wiring Technician (2nd Shift)

Job Description

The Wiring Technician plays a key role in assembling, wiring, and testing electrical control panels for high‑capacity chiller and controls products ranging from 150 to 550 tons. You will interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to build and verify control panels that meet performance, safety, and quality standards in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire electrical control panels according to schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering specifications.
  • Perform point‑to‑point wiring and install components such as circuit breakers, relays, power supplies, PLCs, and other electrical devices.
  • Route and secure wiring neatly to ensure proper function, reliability, and compliance with safety and wiring standards.
  • Conduct quality checks and functional testing of panels prior to final installation to verify proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve wiring or component issues to ensure panels and systems operate correctly.
  • Support troubleshooting activities on chiller and controls products, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and health and safety investigations related to equipment and processes.
  • Assist Technical Support with periodic site visits, including customer end‑of‑line witness tests and participation in noise tests when required.
  • Participate in quality investigations and structured problem solving for issues identified through customer complaints and internal concerns, engaging other departments as needed.
  • Carry out all aspects of testing requirements for chiller systems, including pressure testing, evacuation, and charging.
  • Perform refrigeration performance testing to confirm unit performance against specifications.
  • Conduct electrical component testing to verify correct installation and operation.
  • Support mechanical and electrical installations associated with chiller and control panel assemblies.
  • Test design temperature differences (TD) at required waterflows and pressure drops to validate system performance.
  • Assist in building test rigs and contribute to the development and execution of test plans.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices safely and effectively during assembly and testing activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a large manufacturing plant environment.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience in panel wiring, electrical assembly, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures for electrical and mechanical work.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, wiring standards, and safety procedures applicable to industrial control panels.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise, accurate wiring and assembly work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot wiring and component issues and perform basic electrical diagnostics.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced production setting while meeting quality and performance expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pressure testing procedures and leak detection methods for refrigeration and chiller systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with chiller systems, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment is beneficial.
  • Experience with PLC wiring and troubleshooting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly and installations within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Understanding of HVAC electrical systems and EPA universal or refrigeration‑related certifications is advantageous.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
