What is seasonal work?

Seasonal work refers to temporary employment positions that are available only during certain times of the year, often based on industry needs or fluctuations in demand. Common examples include jobs in agriculture during harvest, retail during holidays, or tourism-related roles during peak travel seasons. These positions typically last for a few weeks to several months and can be a good option for those seeking short-term employment or extra income. Seasonal work can also provide valuable experience and, in some cases, may lead to permanent job opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in seasonal work?

To thrive in seasonal work, you generally need reliability, physical stamina, and the ability to quickly learn job-specific tasks, with minimal formal qualifications required. Familiarity with basic point-of-sale systems, warehouse equipment, or agricultural tools may be expected depending on the industry. Flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude help individuals stand out by adapting smoothly to changing schedules and diverse teams. These skills ensure efficient productivity and seamless integration during peak business periods, which is crucial to seasonal employers.

What are the typical expectations for flexibility and scheduling in seasonal work?

Seasonal work often requires a high degree of flexibility, as schedules may include evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate peak business periods. Employers typically look for individuals who can adapt to changing shifts and potentially work extra hours during busy times. It's common to be part of a team where collaboration and communication are essential to ensure smooth operations, especially during high-traffic periods. Being open to varied tasks and schedule changes can help you succeed and may even open the door to future opportunities with the employer.

  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Be able to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Be able to walk varying distances throughout the day, including up and down inclines, sometimes while carrying heavy objects.
  • Be able to work outside in varying weather conditions, including hot, humid weather.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.

We offer:

  • A competitive hourly wage.
  • Opportunities for growth and professional development.
  • A supportive and engaging work environment.
  • Time off under the Paid Leave for All Workers Act.
  • Insurance benefits, 401(k), and paid time off for employees who meet eligibility requirements.

This is a seasonal non-exempt position and will be paid on an hourly basis.
