Job description

Class Summary Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator (Seasonal, Temporary through October) Turn Community Spirit into Community Action. Do you love bringing people together to make a difference. Are you energized by organizing events, leading volunteers, and creating a cleaner, greener community.

The City of Casper is seeking a Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator to help lead volunteer initiatives through October. This is a seasonal, temporary position (up to 40 hours per week) with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends to support community events and volunteer projects. What You'll Do Every day is different.

You'll coordinate and lead volunteer efforts that make a visible impact throughout Casper, including: Organizing litter cleanup events, tree plantings, weed abatement, beautification, recycling, and sustainability projects. Recruiting, training, scheduling, and recognizing volunteers. Coordinating event logistics, supplies, equipment, and vendors.

Partnering with City departments to support volunteer opportunities across the organization. Tracking volunteer participation and maintaining databases and reports. Representing the City with professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory and management staff. Typical Class Essential Duties 1.Coordinates, plans, organizes, and implements volunteer events and projects focused on litter reduction and cleanup; weed abatement, tree planting, and vegetation management; sustainability, beautification, recycling, etc. and includes contacting vendors and reserving space, equipment, and supplies

2.Recruits, organizes, educates, leads, oversees, tracks, maintains rosters, develops, and recognizes volunteers for events and projects. 3.Maintains volunteer loan closet supplies for projects and events including sourcing and ordering supplies, keeping current supply lists and counts, and checking out and in loan closet supplies. 4.Collaborates with various City workgroups to understand and assist with meeting their volunteer needs

5.Prepares and maintains volunteer databases and reports. 6.Prepares comprehensive reports and analyzes data for program, projects, and events including program, project, and event processes and research. 7.Writes, proofreads and updates a wide variety of reports, letters, memos, and other documents related to assigned responsibilities

8.Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor. 9.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Knowledge (position requirements at entry): Knowledge of: Volunteer management principles

Customer service principles. Leadership principles. Basic math.

Record keeping and file management principles. Community relations. Modern office procedures, methods and use of technological equipment including database management.

Local community resources. Abilities (position requirements at entry): Ability to: Routinely demonstrate the City of Casper core values. Work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.

Learn local geography, street names, directional orientation and landmarks. Coordinate multiple events and groups of volunteers. Maintain accurate files and records.

Operate a variety of modern office equipment and tools. Work independently on a variety of tasks simultaneously in the absence of supervision. Perform public speaking.

Organize records in an easily retrievable fashion. Maintain confidentiality. Learn and use applicable software.

Maintain a neat and professional appearance. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Follow written and verbal instructions and directions.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Follow all City safety rules and procedures and immediately report all accidents/incidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor. Skills (position requirements at entry): Skill in: Coordinating events and groups of people.

Dealing in a courteous, knowledgeable and tactful manner with staff and general public. Working on several projects or issues simultaneously. Program and project management.

Public speaking. Conflict resolution. Working independently in the absence of supervision.

Oral and written communication, sufficient to exchange or convey effective information and to receive work direction. Training, Experience & Certifications EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required. Must be 18 years of age or older

Associate's degree in communications, social work, project management, or a closely related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years' experience coordinating and managing volunteer activities or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed below. LICENSING and CERTIFICATIONS: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming driver's license preferred.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Incumbents may be subject to dust, odors, chemicals, and extreme climate/weather conditions.
