POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Associate is a critical operations team member at Architectural Surfaces Group’s Regional Distribution Center (RDC). This hands-on role is responsible for safely and accurately unloading, inspecting, storing, sorting, and loading large bundles of natural stone and quartz slabs. Associates will operate forklifts (5,000–15,500 lb capacity) and overhead cranes to handle heavy materials and will use tablets, scanners, and ERP tools for processing inventory transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling

  • Safely operate 5,000 lb forklifts with clamp attachments to unload inbound containers.
  • Operate 15,500 lb forklifts and overhead cranes to store, move, and load bundles of stone and quartz slabs.
  • Use saws, crowbars, and other power tools to remove dunnage, braces, and blocking materials during unloading.
  • Secure bundles properly on outbound flatbed trucks according to company safety standards.
  • Sort and stage material for customer viewing and outbound loading.
  • Conduct all material handling operations with speed and efficiency, but also safely without harm or damage to self, team, or material

Inventory & Quality Control

  • Scan materials using tablets and scanners to ensure ERP accuracy for inbound, outbound, and transfer transactions.
  • Inspect slabs for damage, correct labeling, and dimensional accuracy during unloading and staging.
  • Assist with periodic cycle counts, audits, and inventory reconciliations.
  • Report quality issues, damages, or discrepancies to the Distribution Center Manager immediately.

Safety & Facility Maintenance

  • Follow all company safety standards and SOPs including PPE usage, forklift protocols, and loading procedures. FAILURE TO FOLLOW SAFETY PROTOCOLS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by disposing of dunnage, clearing debris, and organizing equipment.
  • Ensure the warehouse environment (100,000 sq. ft.) remains functional, safe, and orderly despite seasonal conditions.

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with warehouse leads, inventory control staff, and drivers.
  • Support new team members with onboarding or safety practices as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-based work culture focused on shared accountability and mutual success.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience operating forklifts and/or overhead cranes.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, or pull 50+ lbs regularly.
  • Strong attention to detail and process accuracy.
  • Ability to use tablets, barcode scanners, and basic digital tools.
  • Willingness to work in a warehouse environment with seasonal exposure (no A/C or heat).
  • Strong teamwork, work ethic, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in warehouse or building materials distribution.
  • Familiarity with handling natural stone, quartz, or slab materials including loading and unloading trucks and unloading containers.
  • Experience operating slab handling equipment
  • Knowledge of slab handling safety protocols.
  • Experience using Stone Profit Systems (SPS) or similar ERP systems.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • 90% active role; frequent standing, walking, lifting, climbing, and material movement.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift to 50+ lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working around heavy equipment and in high-noise, high-traffic areas.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or humid environments throughout all seasons.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or Saturdays as needed.

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including seasonally hot or cold and inclement weather.
