Who We Are

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival.
Each group's name means "The People" in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth. They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region.
Today, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony continues to honor these traditions while supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal community.

Your Impact

As a Patient Representative, you're the first point of contact for patients and a key link between the front desk and clinical teams. This role exists to ensure patients are welcomed, accurately registered, and guided through eligibility and coverage requirements with professionalism and care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Greet and interview patients to determine eligibility for services and possible alternate resources
- Collect and copy required documents; prepare new chart paperwork, face sheets, and health summaries
- Coordinate patient flow by communicating arrivals to nursing, providers, lab, pharmacy, optometry, and other departments
- Enter and correct demographic and insurance information in the RPMS/Unix system
- Support prenatal compliance tracking and required notifications related to Nevada Medicaid and other programs
- Maintain logs, prepare letters, and educate patients on clinic policies and Contract Health Services reporting
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED; 45 WPM typing; basic math/writing; confidentiality
- 6+ months experience with Medicare, Nevada Medicaid, or private insurance plans
- Background check; TB test; current CPR certification

A Typical Day

You'll start the morning preparing the front desk and RPMS/Unix workspace, then welcome a steady flow of patients as the clinic opens. Throughout the day you'll move between focused, one-on-one conversations and quick coordination with nearby departments to keep visits running smoothly. You'll spend time reviewing documents, updating records, and following up on returned mail or missing information.
On scheduled days, you'll attend prenatal classes and update monthly tracking so required applications and coverage details stay current. By late afternoon, you'll reconcile logs, finish letters or forms that need to go out, and help set the next day up for an organized, patient-ready start.
