Job description

Hanover Foods Corporation - Centre Hall, PA, is currently seeking 3rd Shift Production Laborers. This entry position is responsible for performing general, non-mechanical duties throughout the plant. Production Laborers prepare raw materials for production, inspect and remove defects from products. They are responsible for container inspections to include seam inspections, proper lid placements and proper fill levels; keeping work areas clean - including sweeping, dumping and disposing of materials used in production, and perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.

The normal hours for this position are 11pm - 7am and includes a $0.75 3rd Shift Differential while working during stated normal hours. Hanover Foods Corporation offers a competitive rate of pay and comprehensive benefits package such as medical, dental, prescription drug, and 401(k). The duties listed below are representative of the types of responsibilities required for the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the organization:

  • Stacking boxes of products on pallets and shrink wraps for storage.

  • Inspecting finished product for quality and proper labeling. 

  • Packing finished product into boxes or totes; inspecting pallets, boxes, and totes for defective units not to be used; placing poly liners in totes; ensuring proper weights; stacking and shrink wrapping for storage as needed.

  • Learning the line flow and setting up production of various products for the Production Department.

  • Cleaning machinery as applicable.

  • Ensuring the work areas are clean and in accordance with good housekeeping practices.

  • Performing various checks and doing paperwork throughout the shift; ensuring accuracy and legible handwriting.

  • Responsible for following food safety, legality, quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as: GMP’s, HACCP, food safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.

  • Adhering to common safety practices and procedures, including the wearing of proper PPE’s when necessary.

  • Reporting safety issues immediately to Supervisor and/or Lead.

  • Adhering to plant hygiene standards to ensure high product integrity.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Lead.

  • The ability to attend work predictably and regularly and to be punctual.

  • The ability to read and understand documents, drawings, and instructions (whether presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form).

  • The ability to work with mathematical concepts and to apply concepts to practical situations.

  • The ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and coworkers.

  • The ability to perform several tasks at once.

  • The ability to follow direction or instruction.

  • The ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information.

  • The ability to lift and move 80 pounds.

  • The ability to sit/stand/bend/stretch, etc.

  • The ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with the hands and arms.
