Posting Summary
The Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the broad area of innovative materials for transportation infrastructure with applications in civil (geotechnical/material) engineering, industrial scale economics, and transportation infrastructure performance. The successful candidate will lead research activities into the use and value of industrial byproducts in transportation infrastructure in support of a United States Department of Transportation funded initiative. The candidate will collaborate closely with several research groups at Rutgers as well as with national and international academic, governmental, and industrial partners.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, Material Science, or a closely related field.
  • The candidate is expected to have experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • geomaterial performance assessment and modeling,
    • life cycle assessment,
    • infrastructure performance and design,
    • supply chain management,
    • systems thinking and modeling.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with high proficiency in technical writing and editing.
  • The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated with the ability to think broadly and conceptually to formulate creative, sophisticated solutions to complex problems while prioritizing the workload and working independently with general supervision.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Laboratory or experimental research experience
  • Experience with common programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab)
  • Experience working with big data is highly desirable
