Job description

Editorial / Brochure Designer – Adobe InDesign Luxury Travel Publication Redesign CREATIVE BRIEF

Editorial / Brochure Designer – Adobe InDesign

Luxury Travel Publication Redesign

Project:

Company brochure redesign — Countless Journeys for Cruise Dreams. Premium, full-color print publication.

Current State:

106-page brochure built on a stock design template. While the content foundation is strong, the design and layout repeat the same formula across all seven major sections.

Target Length:

Approximately 75–85 pages after planned content edits and consolidation. We are open to the designer's recommendations once the revised copy is reviewed and flowed into the new design.

Format:

8.5\" × 11\" portrait finished pages with 11\" × 17\" facing-page spreads. Full-color professional print production. Final binding is TBD, likely perfect or PUR perfect binding.

Audience:

Existing referral clients, including clients we would like to re-engage, as well as new referrals. Our clients are loyal, often multigenerational, higher-end travelers planning meaningful vacations, celebrations, and bucket-list journeys.

Primary Goal:

Create an evergreen \"keep and refer back to\" publication—not a seasonal mailer. The brochure should avoid dates, \"new in 2027\" messaging, or other content that will quickly expire.

Brand Feel:

Personal, relationship-driven, sophisticated, inspiring and \"different and outside the box.\" It should not feel like a generic luxury travel agency brochure or stock/template design.

Think premium travel magazine / coffee-table publication rather than a traditional travel catalog.

Must Avoid:

Template monotony. The existing brochure relies heavily on the same layout skeleton: Section divider → headline → pitch → bullet list → repeat

The redesigned publication must introduce variety in pacing, layout, photography, typography, white space, and visual rhythm from section to section, while still feeling cohesive and unmistakably Cruise Dreams.

The Design Challenge

This is not simply a cleanup or reformatting project.

The selected designer will receive the existing 106-page brochure as the content foundation, along with revised/trimmed copy, brand assets, photography, and detailed editorial recommendations.

We want you to approach the publication with fresh eyes and a new creative perspective.

Some pages may need to become dramatic two-page spreads. Others may need to be minimal and quiet. Some information may work better as an editorial feature, comparison, sidebar, testimonial, pull quote, or visual story.

We want a designer who understands editorial pacing across a long publication, rather than simply creating an attractive template and repeating it.

Planned Content Changes/Priorities
  • Eliminating repetitive pages and messaging
  • Creating one strong \"Why Cruise Dreams\" narrative
  • Adding a personal \"Meet Kim\" / founder story
  • A personal \"Meet Kim\" spread near the front — photo, founder story, why referrals are the only marketing you’ve ever needed
  • A short \"how we’ve grown\" page/timeline showing the range of travel you now cover
  • Introducing recurring \"Kim's Pick\" editorial callouts
  • Incorporating authentic client stories/testimonials per major section
  • Removing or relocating time-sensitive content
  • Section openers that feel distinct from each other in layout, not just in photo subject
  • Strengthening the final call to action
  • Bringing more personality and Cruise Dreams-specific storytelling into the publication
We specifically want someone with demonstrated experience designing
  • 50–150+ page publications
  • Magazines
  • Luxury brochures
  • Product catalogs
  • Lookbooks
  • High-end print collateral
  • Professional print publications

Experience with luxury travel, hospitality, lifestyle, cruise, resort, or premium consumer brands is highly desirable.

Advanced Adobe InDesign expertise is required, including Parent/Master Pages, paragraph and character styles, grids, long-document workflows, typography, image management, preflight, CMYK, bleeds, packaging, and professional print-ready PDF production.

We want to evaluate your
  • Creative direction
  • Editorial judgment
  • Typography
  • Photography treatment
  • Visual hierarchy
  • Use of white space
  • Page-to-page pacing
  • Ability to elevate our existing brand

The successful designer will then be considered for the complete 75–85+ page publication redesign.

To Apply
  • 2–4 examples of long-form publications you personally designed, preferably 50+ pages.
  • Your experience with professional print production.
  • Confirmation that you work in Adobe InDesign and can provide packaged source files so that we can edit at a later date.

Please prioritize relevant editorial work. We are specifically looking for long-form publication design experience, rather than portfolios focused primarily on logos, social media, websites, Canva templates, single-page flyers, or short brochures.
