Summary

Step into a trusted leadership role as a Senior Flock Advisor, where you’ll serve as the company’s key field representative and a vital partner to contract producers. In this role, you’ll oversee poultry inventory across your assigned route while driving strong communication, alignment, and performance between the company and its growers. By combining technical expertise with relationship-building, you’ll help support healthy flocks, consistent supply, and operational excellence that strengthen both producer success and the company’s competitive position.

A personal company vehicle is provided for this role.  Personal use of this vehicle is allowable within the Perdue Policy Guidelines.

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Work directly with assigned contract producers to improve company profitability and competitive position by implementing production programs and documenting producer compliance at each visit to the farm. Note: In the case of the west coast, associates lives on farms and are responsible for raising chickens.
• Maintain assigned route square footage to meet the demands established by sales to fulfill customer orders.
• Maintain route compliance to poultry welfare, food safety and environmental "Best Management Practices" to maintain a strong brand image.
• Monitor chick placements, bird weights, flock movements, mortality and feed inventories.
• Assess bird health, administer proper field vaccinations, prescribe treatment and perform various testing on birds to identify disease and relay finds to management.
• Support other departments within the company that are impacted by the producers on assigned route by maintaining good open lines of communication between all parties.
• Comply and follow company requirements regarding biosecurity, food safety and poultry welfare programs and policies at all times.
• Operate company vehicle in a safe manner complying with all company policies, state and federal requirements.
• As a Housing Manager, work with new prospects and existing growers to add the square footage needed to meet the needs of the complex.
• Manage the average service cost of the complex to not exceed the current average by strategically locating new farms as close as possible to the plant locations.
• Facilitate the construction of square footage by evaluating new sites, introducing prospects to lenders, working with builders and equipment to provide quotes to prospects, arranging grading bids and managing the scheduling of contractors to attain the most equate footage in the least amount of time.
• Develop new grading contractors, builders, equipment vendors and electricians to facilitate the additional expansion.
• Work with lenders, zoning, university staff and extension to help facilitate the expansion project.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science or Agribusiness Management.
• 3-5 years related experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license with no points.
• Good customer service skills.
• Strong reading, math, writing communication skills (oral and written), analytical skills and a statistical background.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Must be physically able to work in all locations including hatcheries, feed mills, chicken houses and processing plants.
• Exposed to seasonal weather conditions as well as significant amount of airborne dust and feathers.

When in a plant environment:

• Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
• May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
• May handle products from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
• May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, and processing facility.
• Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
• Exposure to chicken manure and associated odors, including ammonia, especially in the production houses.
• Required to perform moderate physical exertion to include pushing, pulling and lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to climb to a height of 30' as well as significant amount of bending, lifting and stooping.
