To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Greenbelt Manager (Park Ranger), this position performs complex (journeylevel) building maintenance and construction work and is responsible for park operations, maintenance, and visitor services at Ray Roberts Lake State Park Greenbelt Unit. Performs all phases of maintenance to facilities, buildings, vehicles, equipment, and grounds. Operates all types of equipment including power mowers, tools, tractors, and other gasolineoperated equipment. Provides customer service, issues park permits, and performs fee collection duties. Responsible for overseeing work of community service workers, volunteer staff, and other Alternative Workforces. Assists in enforcing park rules and regulations, performs resource management tasks, and interprets the park's natural resources. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience :
Three years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid State driver's license.
NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS :
Experience :
Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, janitorial, and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks.
Knowledge of general custodial duties.
Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operations of buildings, equipment, and utility systems.
Knowledge of building materials.
Knowledge of general trail construction and repair.
Skill in using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Skill in using hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, tractors, vehicles, generators, and other mechanical equipment.
Skill in selecting appropriate tools and equipment and in troubleshooting situations to determine appropriate actions and resolve problems.
Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with coworkers and workrelated contacts.
Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions.
Skill in repairing trail erosion.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Required to work in a public park with overnight camping.
Required to work 40 hours per week, includes various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Required to respond emergency situations.
Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.
Required to operate a State vehicle.
Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
Nonsmoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
