Job Summary

Windsor Salt is hiring a Package Equipment Operator to join our Belle Plaine production facility. This role involves operating various packaging lines and equipment to produce a wide range of salt products. A strong commitment to safety and adherence to quality standards in a food-grade manufacturing environment is essential.ย ย 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate bagger and ensure bags are properly filled and coded.
  • Operate a forklift or collaborate with the Forklift Operator to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Maintain production records and perform check-weighing of bags; adjust scales to ensure accurate weights.
  • Deliver salt samples to the lab as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor maintenance on the bag packer and related equipment; assist maintenance personnel with repairs.ย 
  • Coordinate salt flow to the bagging station with the Mixer Operator.
  • Ensure accurate coding of all bags.ย 
  • Follow the daily production schedule, including special products, codes, and palletizing requirements.
  • Conduct or assist with monthly spare parts inventory cycle counts and quarterly package/materials inventory counts.ย 
  • Monitor and report on low inventory levels of packaging materials or ingredients to the Production Supervisor.
  • Strictly adhere to GMP and Food Safety requirements; report all known defects and maintain high standards for product and package quality.ย 
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Mill Manager.

ย Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education or certifications considered an asset.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or processing environment is preferred.ย 
  • Familiarity with automated and mobile equipment considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.ย 
  • Understanding of Food Safety Process Controls and their impact on product quality, legality, and safety.ย 
  • Physical ability to stoop, twist, bend, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 25 kg.ย 

Environment

  • Exposure to varied temperatures and salt dust.
  • Must be able to wear all PPE, including steel-toed boots and safety glasses.ย
